Need advice on PreK program

In your opinion, how beneficial would a half day quality preK program be in a home environment with a student teacher ratio of 1:6? Cost would be atleast half what a full-time day care would be. I am thinking of starting one in my home, but need input from moms on whether or not there is a demand. I see it as a solution for moms who want their child to get socialization and learn the essentials without giving up all of the quality time they need with mom or grandma. Need your suggestions and need to know if there is even a demand for this please.

In my opinion, it would be a good thing. But you have to also take into consideration what licensing requirements are and all that before you start one on your own. I would suggest going to one that is already set up and see what they have done with their program. Talk to the one running it, see what kind of certification she has as far as licensing goes, what educational background she has (Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Ed or other educational background and training), CPR and First Aid certification, Food Programs and such. See how her site is set up for the kids with centers: art, home living, blocks, books, manipulative toys, active areas, and outside. Also find out what the rules are in the setup. See what she does about the use of videos and movies (a lot of people do not want their kids watching movies all day). Ask what kinds of costs go into it for food, supplies, and other things needed. Also ask about setup costs for toys, outdoor equipment, insurance, utilities, and other things like this. A one to six ratio is good but by state it is different what is considered a good ratio. The state I am in is more than that for kids ages 3 to 5. Also if it is done in a home there may be a lower ration that you have to go by and not have more than that such as 1:4.
