I like the bonfire and scavenger hunt ideas. Hot dogs, chips and s'mores are cheap! Or, do you have a yard where you can set up a sprinkler and tell the kids to bring their super soaker water guns? Boys (and girls) love running around like crazy people, getting soaking wet! :)

Scavenger hunts are great, my sons last party was for 10 but he invited 4 buddies to sleep over and play video games I bought a few munchies made pizza and they all had a blast.

How about a bonfire or camping at a lake/beach? The kids and parents could supply their own tents and gear, all you would have to pay for is the campsite rental, hotdogs, marshmallows, something for breakfast, and maybe a few games.
