My son is eight and his father went to prison when he was three. He got out 2 years later and i allowed him to see him as long as he did not smoke weed around my child. Well i picked him up the last time and he was stoned and admitted it. So I stopped him and took him to court for child support. Now another 2 years later he is wanting to be in my childs life but does nothing to prove to me that he is clean. Can I take his parental rights away to keep my son from suffering?? I need advise

I have never heard of that. But each state is different. Don't get your hopes up though. That sounds fishy.

Glad he has a positive influence in his life.

I am planning to friday, i read that if a parent is out of a childs life for 6 consecutive months that he terminates hes parental rights. My child has a wonderful stepfather since he was four and stands by this kid and helps him as much as possible. I just don't want my child to suffer any more than he already has.

Speak to a lawyer about your situation. The best option would to be gaining full custody with him having supervised visits. Just my opinion though.
