need help getting my 1 year old to sleep through the night

My 1 year old baby girl has been sleeping through the night but lately, she sleeps for about 4-5 hours and wakes up and when I get her back to sleep and lay her down, she wakes up and won't go back to sleep unless I hold her. I have tried letting her cry until she goes to sleep. She will lay down for a few seconds and then get right back up. She starts crying until she is hyperventilating. Any ideas on how to stop this? It has been going on for two weeks now. Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.

She needs to find a way to soothe herself. At nighttime and nap time, do you put her down awake or is she asleep? If she is asleep, try putting her down when she is drowsy but awake. Learning to fall asleep, a to fall back too sleep during the night is a skill. You can let her cry even if she hyperventilates, she will tire and fall asleep. It is just a hard thing to do.
