Need help with my 10 year old

I have a 10 year old daughter that I'm having some trouble with and would like to get some suggestions on how to handle this. First off I have 5 kids and my oldest is my 10 year old, the others are 5 (daughter), 3 (son), 2 (son), and 4 month old daughter and I try to have each one help me out but my 10 year old will diddle daddle along no matter if its chores or just taking out the trash, making up stories with almost every situation and smiles every time she gets caught doing something she's not suppose to be doing, she just finds this entertaining.Disciplining doesn't seem to work. I even try to talk to her and I feel as if she's not telling me the whole truth. She knows she can come talk to me about anything but I don't want to force her to come and talk to me. Sometimes I feel as I failed as a mother, help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you to everyone!

This is normal and nothing to worry about. Remind her of her chores and just let the little white lies go all she is doing is trying to make her day sound more exciting. As long as she is doing her job eventually step back from nagging her she is doing what comes naturally to a ten year old,........nothing!

She sounds like a normal ten year old to me. Its teenagedom starting early. You havent failed as a mother these are just trying times. Be firm with her if you want her to do something then make her do it once she learns that you wont back down she will have to but pick your arguments wisely. No point causing rows over a cup left in her room when you can be rowing about her doing all the dishes instead lol.
