I went in to have my 5 year IUD taken out which I was told would be a quick fairly painless procedure. immediately following the first attempted manipulation from the resident doc that was in with my OB/GYN I felt an extremely sharp pain on the lower left of my abdomen. So much so the doc ordered the res. to stop. He attempted and of course more pain so stopped again and sent me straight for a trans vaginal ultrasound. So I went to the US room and had a. 30 stills taken in 3d of everything they could see. Well back to the exam room. He had informed me that the pain I was feeling was because the left side of the IUD was imbedded in the muscle of my uterus. I had a few removal options. One of which was coming back another day (out of the question considering problems I've had with this thing) or trying a para cervical block which I chose to do there in office. The lidocaine made me feel really weird and everyone just said give it a few days. Nothing specific and on top of that, everything I was told wouldn't go wrong did. I am certainly not blaming my Dr. But has anyone else experienced a removal like this and can shed some light? Thanks
