Need some advice.

my son has a very different sleeping pattern. He gets off work at 11 at night and cannot get to sleep until 6 or 7 in the morning. He takes a lot of sleeping pills to get to sleep. What can I do to help?

First, he needs to go to the doctor. Men never like to go but he has some serious issues to address with him. Issue number one is the depression--this needs to be addressed and usually doesn't go away on its own. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. Depression also causes insomnia, which is issue number two. Taking lots of sleeping pills (what kind?) can be counter-productive and addictive---and if he's also drinking Redbull type drinks, no wonder his system is messed up. He needs to talk to the doctor about his sleeping issues as well.

When he comes home from work, does he try to go right to sleep? Does he play video games? Does he take a relaxing bath? What is he doing between 11 pm and 6 am? There are calming routines (taking a bath, reading a book, etc.) which he could start, but there are also things which forestall sleep (video games, any electronic device, tv). But first, he has to decide he really wants to get better.

He does drink those type of drinks, maybe 2 a day. He is 24. He is also in a depressed mode. Does not want to go back to Dr. He is receptive to talk to someone outside community.

How old is your son? Is he one of those people who live off Redbull or any drink like that? Whats his normal working hours? There isnt enough information here to actually give you advice sorry.
