Don't jump to autsim. There are MANY different things r that deal with speech and will affect other things which will look like autism, but is not. Have his hearing checked. Then do as Keri suggested. Have an evaluation done for all development not just speech. Many people will think their child is autistic when often times it is a hearing issue or a speech disability.

Hi. I am a Speech Path and I would suggest taking him to a specialized center that could give you more of a specific diagnosis. I live in a small town where parents have to wait for speech therapy, as well. So awful. Do you have a program such as First Steps for birth to three year olds where the therapist can come into your home weekly? The only drawback is he may not qualify if he is age appropriate on other milestones, such as gross motor. When he is three you should be able to take him to the public school at no cost for therapy but he needs the intervention now. I hope that is helpful. Hang in there mama - you are on top of things!
