my 3 year old son was assaulted by our babysitter just over 2 months ago, he suffered 2nd &3rd degree burns to over 30% of his tiny body, THANKFULLY he is healing amazingly and he will not require surgery, He hasnt had many emotional issues since it all happened but the ones he has shown we have been dealing with, over the past few nights Iv noticed he has not been sleeping . He paces his bedroom in silence all night long, ( i have a video baby monitor). iv tried laying with him, putting relaxing music on,rubbing his back and many other things but I just cant get him to sleep, he has "cat Naps" throughout the night no longer than 20 minutes but then he is back up and continues his pacing hours on end . I have made a doctors appt to discuss this and see what might be going on but Im wondering if any other moms have ever dealt with a similar situations and may have some advice on how to help me help him sleep.

I'm sorry your son and family have to deal with this. My family went through a similar situation (not exactly the same though) when my daughter was 4. Since your son is so young he may be feeling things he cannot explain yet, I would (as I'm sure you have done) assure him what happened wasn't his fault and some people are cruel. The bigger issue is that what the heck was the babysitter thinking, their moment of cruelty will affect your son's entire life, in ways that you don't yet know. By the actions of this babysitter your sons attitude towards people may change, his behavior in certain situations may change, you don't know yet, and that is normal from experiencing something so traumatic. As for the sleeping problems I wonder does he think while he is sleeping someone is gonna put more hot water on him? I wish you the best and I'm sure you will help your son overcome this experience.

Try the Online ς-energy Music. It is available on http://duosuccess.com/tcm/index.htm - the world's first (Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM) e-Hospital developed by Dr Long, Wei Quan. As Dr Long explains in short, sigma-energy Music emits a strong penetrating force of sound waves that can dredge the obstructed meridians and Qi & Blood, thereby restoring internal organs to their original functions and healing the patient.

Hi Joanne,
Yes the babysitter was arrested and charged, we are awaiting court but that will still be a while as we have to wait for the final report from the hospital which could take a while. He just turned 3 in december and I have asked him certain questions but his answers are very limited, All he will say is so and so threw hot water on me. That is the answer to any question we ask him in regards to the incident. I have taken him to a therapist and they taught me some Technics on helping him cope and deal with it through play and it has helped but this new sleeping issue is really starting to concern me. last night I brought him into bed with myself and his dad and he just sat there staring off into space. I honestly dont know what to do, his doctors appt isnt until next week it was earliest we could get in.

This is terrible news to hear that your babysitter caused 3rd degree burns on your son. I'm sure the police was called and the sitter is in jail right now, right?! It sounds to me that your son is still experiencing anxiety on the burn incident. He needs to get this matter addressed so he can release himself from that horrible day/night when he was burned. Maybe he is getting nightmares so don't want to sleep. Did you ever ask him what happened to him on that incident? Telling someone of the incident releases a lot of emotional upset. He may cry while telling you but you should let him say it so he can get relief. Honestly, doing this will help him. I read all about it in a book called Dianetics. I've used it on people as well as on myself and it truly works.
