Need some help with my 2nd grader's short attention span...

My son is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade. He has a hard time focusing on getting his work done in school. It is getting to a point where he is having to be separated from the other kids to get his work done since he is too easily distracted. I am worried that this problem will get worse if nothing is done about it, but I don't know what to do... any advice from parents that have gone through a similar situation? At what point should I involve his pediatrician?

Now is the time to involve your PCP.

First line correctives are balanced diet, with a good vitamin supplement--appropriate for your child, adequate sleep, and minimize the junk food during the school week, at least. A good doctor will try the least invasive things first. Meds. should be for the last resort.
