I am in the hospital as im writing this questions......my sister in law is 39 and half weeks preg. and we just heard a bad news as 1pm on 4th of july.....she started having some fever day before that at about 1am. we came to hospital at 1pm on 4th of july and nurses were trying to figure out the baby's heart beat....but they couldn't hear anything and told us that baby is dead inside...she had some discharge before but it was white clear with white mucus...and they told us that its normal and today it was yellow and seems like baby's poop leaking...I want to know what kind of infection and how does it happen and why.....we are hoping for miracle..she is only 7cm dilated...doctor wants to wait thru normal birth...baby is already dead and we are still waiting....we never had or needed to do any funeral in our family...and now 39 weeks full term baby...who's not even out in this world ...we have to arrange for funeral....please find some answers for us....she has infection too...doctors said that it will take 2 days to find out and telling us to do the autopsy on baby to find out more...

I hope the birth doesn't drag on for her. I can't really offer any advice as I've never had to arrange a funeral or lost a baby either but sorry for your loss and I agree with Carolee just be there for her during this horrific time.

I am so sorry that your family is going through this. If your sister has an infection, I don't understand why they are not hurrying to get the baby out, though. I hope she ends up okay. The death of a baby is a horrible, horrible thing. Unfortunately, there are no answers that I can offer you. The only advice I can give is to let your sister (& her partner) take their time through the grieving process. Be there when she needs you, but be prepared to step back if she suddenly needs space. Grief is different for everybody, but it's so much "easier" with a good support system.
