Need suggestions how to gradually leave toddler alone at bedtime

I always stay in the room with my daughter until she falls asleep. If I leave the room while she is awake she cries. I have another baby on the way and am worried when I have to put both to bed at the same time. My daughter will be it ok to let her cry and put herself to sleep?

I would try allowing her to cry, but I wouldn't allow her to cry over twenty minutes. It is difficult to do this, but it might save you a lot of grief in the long run if you can deal with it. It you allow a child to control you at this age, it can continue throughout their lives. You will enable them and they will control you. Trust me on this one. If you need to be convinced, do more research, and I would recommend Bible based Christian research. Keep searching until you feel comfortable enough to do it. You can only do what you can handle, so pray for wisdom. You can be a good Christian, be extremely sincere, and dead wrong. This, I believe with all of my heart, and it comes from years of experience. Sometimes what seems like a small thing can become a difficult issue. (Example: I have had sleep deprivation since I was as young as age six). Life was a living hell during my school years. My parents had no clue that I wasn't sleeping for most of the night. I am disabled now. Just do a lot of research until you feel confident about your decisions.
