My son had a type of paranoia when he was 15 and he was very depressed. We found out much later that he was taking his medicine very erratically and was smoking pot. That combination was very bad. I know it is hard to monitor an older child's habits, but if you can make sure that he keeps to his schedule on taking the medicine, he will do much better. There is also a very simple therapy that can help people with emotions. If you will teach it to him, he will respond better to it. It is called Emotional Freedom Therapy, or E.F.T. Use it on yourself too. I have taught it to 3 year olds because it is so simple. You can learn how to do it for free on http://www.emofree.com
Help him use the EFT when he is in a good frame of mind. If he is really having a melt-down, there are a few EFT professional master practitioners that can help him. Above all else, don't fail to have him continue treatment with a good psychiatrist. You might start looking into as many alternative healing therapies as you can afford. Do lots of reading first and try to get referrals before you take him to any practitioner. Many people respond quite well too essential oils or aromatherapy. You can learn how to mix the oils yourself. Lavender is a very calming oil. Just add a few drops in the bath water or spray the oil mixed with water on the bed sheets. Test just a little bit to see if he is allergic first. I am an alternative healer myself and will be glad to give your more of those kind of ideas if you are interested. Blessings! Carol Krause
Also, if you believe in prayer, get his name on several church's prayer lists. I still believe in miracles. I hope you do too.
