My sister-in-law is having a 1st b-day party for my nephew. She told my MIL that she wanted diapers or a gift card for Lowe's to get a blind for his room. My MIL really wants to get him something fun.. not diapers or a giftcard. She kind of wonders what people will think of the grandma giving a box of diapers... She is actually having 2 parties for my nephew. One on Saturday with one side of her family and friends and the other on Sunday with a lot more family and friends. I understand how badly my MIL wants to get something fun for him, but s he got the diapers and giftcard like she was asked to do. She also wants to get him a stuffed animal but has been banned from ever giving stuffed animals... (p.s. she has gotten my child a stuffed animal for his bday.. just a sidenote).

Now me.. I did not ask what she wanted us to get my nephew for his b-day. I got him some really nice clothes in the next size up and a sports-themed sleeper of their favorite team. In the past when I asked her what they wanted for Christmas she immediately said "Target giftcard" -- so I was stuck getting that, and spending more money than I really felt I had (a giftcard has to be at least $25 if not $50)...

Now, she has asked me what we want them to get my daughter for her bday (which is in 5 days by the way). I guess I'm a little upset about the whole thing, so I haven't responded yet. I just need to collect myself and be really nice about this whole thing. This whole thing is out of my own control. I would just like your thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Tell your MIL to get what she asked for and also get a fun toy that is actually for the baby...oh yeah make sure it makes lots & lots of noise :) lol

Tell your SIL "target giftcard" or any other place you can shop fo you little one, this way you can save it and pick up the things she didnt get that you wanted her to have.
