Hey all, was wondering if you could give me some advice on something. I'm a mom of an almost 4 year old and also work full time. While I work I have family help me watch her and during that time she has had very little interaction with kids her own age. She talks but she is behind in what she should be. Whenever anyone watches her she behaves but with me I have trouble getting her to listen so how will she listen to a teacher? I'm so nervous taking her to registration with her getting overexcited and running off :(. Literally sick to my stomach and not sure what to do

If you are concerned about her speech, you could do the checklist on this page, and if it you are concerned, take her to see her doctor for a checkup.

My stepson was a little behind in his speech development before registering him for school, so he was held back another year to allow him time for his speech to mature a little more. He is now in his final years of school and absolutely excelling. So I would recommend getting that checkup if you think you need to.

She is just starting to use sentences. She knows her name but won't say it. Speech wise for her age it think.

You and every newbie parent out there. Once you meet the teacher and see that the other kids all act the same way; you'll feel better. What do you mean by she is behind in what she should be?
