Your step daughter is an adult and doesn't really need to be consulted, especially since she doesn't live with you.
Have you had a discussion about it? Why isn't she supportive? What are her concerns?
There is so much more we need to know.

Oh, ok, I assumed she was living with you!! If you don't put all the information in your post, then you can hardly expect a response that works.

And it is a support site, but people aren't going to blow smoke up your ass just because that is what you want to hear. If you had provided the information that your step daughter doesn't live with you, and lives in a different city altogether, my response would have been totally different. If you want "support" the burden is on you to give all the relevant information.

I might have added that she lives in a different city and we have many times welcomed her input and concerns on the matter. We didn't expect her to be thrilled. I thought this was a "support" blog.... rather than an opinon posting.......

So you have had a new family situation for 1 year with your step-daughter (read: her life has already changed significantly recently). And already you are trying to force yet another significant change on her. Personally, I think you needed to give it more time than that. This is something you need to have her on board for BEFORE you just go ahead and do it, than after the fact (which is what appears to have happened here).

I'm sorry, I know this isn't what you were hoping to hear, but I just think you went about this all wrong.
