First, hello! I'm married with an 8-year-old biracial daughter. I'm white, my husband is black. Our daughter has nice natural tan looking skin, brown eyes and brown curly hair. She also has dark brown hair all over her body. I know with her dark features that having dark hair every where is going to happen. Tonight when she got out of the shower, I realized she has got dark hair already showing on her upper lip. Any other parents of young girls have this problem yet? She has not been picked on yet or anything for it, but I know it's coming. I just want to either find a way to go ahead and nip it in the bud or get advice on how to handle it when she notices it or other kids notice it. Thanks!

Hello, I have Italian in me, and I have dark features compared to most of my family, as a kid I always had dark thick hair everywhere, and still do! (actually was worse as a kid). I had to start shaving when I was 10 so I wouldn't get picked on during swim class... Maybe its more noticeable to you than others since your concerned about it? Maybe you could introduce her to bleaching or waxing along with shaving when she is older... I have dark hair on my upper lip that I always felt was sooo noticeable, but honestly that kind of stuff is completely normal and natural! Hope this was helpful :)

Thanks! I know she's going to end up shaving her legs for sure here real soon. And we will cross the facial hair bridge when we get there. And no one else has ever noticed it or ever mentioned it before. It's not that dark right now either. I just happen to catch her right when she got out the shower and wanted to go ahead and get prepared for what's ahead. She is very outgoing and is always wanting to please people and I know the first negative thing said to her about something like that is just going to crush her.
