My support group is starting to fall apart:(
Hello my name is Kathryn and I am a single working mother to my awesome little 4 year old boy. A couple years back my son's father decided to cut himself out of the picture and I fell back on a great group of friends and loving family. Currently this year I've notice friends are starting to fade:( My friends are starting to choose the party life over being there for me. I understand being in my mid-twenties why get mad at them for being single and living it up. I just thought I never lose them...especially the ones that I've known for a little over 20 years. They have taken my limited free time personally as if I don't care about them. Breaks my heart. Wish they understood when it comes to being a parent our children come first. Any advice to cope with losing friends? Or the loneliness of being a single mom?

It can be difficult to maintain close friendships with people who are in a different stage of life. When I had kids I definitely grew apart from some of friends, either because they didn't have kids and weren't into family life, or because we had hugely different parenting styles. I would work on making new friends... connecting with other moms of preschoolers and other single moms. Do you attend and play groups, or mom and child activities? Do you get along with the parents of your little boys friends?

I do take my son to loads of fun kid activities around town, have friends that have kids, and close with single moms. I guess I've got soo close to my support group that I haven't branch out through his preschool. Just never thought I lose my best friends its going to hurt but they are in a different stage of life and making new friends with more moms that understand sounds way better. Thanks Chet!
