Night time nappy dramas

My son is 3 in March and is virtually fully potty trained during the day, apart from the odd accident.
Anyway since he has been out of nappies during the day he has developed the boy habit of playing with himself. This isn't so much a problem, but at night its like he is doing it in his sleep. He wakes up most nights soaking wet where he has been "playing" and the nappy is hanging off or his penis is poking out the top or side of his nappy.

Any advice on how I can avoid a wet bed or stop him fiddling in the night would be most appreciated.

First option, put him in one piece pjs. I lke the zippered ones with a snap over the zipper.

If he is still determined, cut the feet off the one piece pjs and put them on backwards. I haven't had to do this myself, just heard of it and thought it was FABULOUS!!!

Tell him that when he has a diaper on he can not play w/ his penis if he doesn't want to get all wet.

I don't know. My son loves his penis, but he doesn't mess w/ it while he has a diaper on (which he doesn't need, but still likes to wear).

Good luck!

I've tried telling him to leave it alone or he'll get wet and I've expained to him when he is wet thats it's because he wont leave it alone.
The one piece suit sounds like a good idea but we're in the middle of summer here and I've never seen them in a size 4.

I am trying nappy pants, I'm hoping that at least there are no tabs to pull off so it might keep him covered enough to stay dry

I suppose most little boys seem to do that during the night ,may be his nappy is rubbing against his Penis so then he trys to sort it out .so this maybe the reason .

We have a mattress protector, so luckily the mattress is the one thing that gets saved. I would like to avoid the wet sheets and pjs every night if its possible.

There are waterproof covers you can get for the mattress so you don't need to deal with a soaked mattress. I'm not sure how to stop him from fiddling with himself, I only have a 3 month old daughter...
