Ok So my almost 3 YO has been having really bad dreams lately. When I can get him to tell what it was about its mostly something trying to eat him (the toy box, his teddy, the big chair, ect.). I put his toy box in the closet and he's only allowed to have 2 stuffed animals in bed with him now (before he wanted ALL of them).

One of his new favorite games is "Running away from the dinosaurs". I dont really know where he came up with it but I was happy he had a good imagination. Now I'm wondering if me encouraging the idea of dinosaurs (i.e monsters) has created his nightmares.

I dont know what to do. I want to encourage a good imagination, and I dont want him to be afraid of dinosaurs either, but I REALLY dont want him to be afraid at night. I like it when mommy and daddy's bed is just that mommy and daddy's bed. But more than wanting my bed I dont want my little man to be scared,He's only 3. :(

Hi Pamalla, We had the same problem with our little girl. She started having monster dreams out of the blue and was waking heaps at night and wanting to sleep in our bed. We ended up trying one of the Little Children Big Dreams stories (www.littlechildrenbigdreams.com) which have been written by a Child Psychiatrist and help children scared of monsters or afraid of the dark. You can print a personalized story for your little boy right off the website. Comes with a set of instructions for parents to help your kid which we found really handy. Hope it helps and you get your bed back soon!

Try some "Monster Spray". I use a bit of lavender oil mixed with water in a spray bottle and spray it around the room, under the beds and in the closet.

The lavender oil is calming. It worked with my boys when they were around that age.
