I'd go with conditioner and nit comb too and introduce it into your bath routine at least once a week after you have gained control. Check your step daughters hair when she comes round if she has anything treat her hair. I bought a metal comb with spiral spikes that remover nits and eggs with out anything else, I'm not sure if it works because mine haven't had them again but I'd ask the chemist because it sounds like your missing eggs that's why there reoccurring.

Out of their hair? Conditioner, a really good nit comb, and a lot of patience. Do a complete comb out every other day until you can do two comb outs w/out a single bug or nit. Then you can switch to a once a week check. Vacuuming and washing are good things too, but the bugs don't live long off the head and the nits can't hatch unless they are still attached to a hair, so the most important part is getting it off their heads.

First make sure your daughters and sons hair is bug and nit free. Then wash all their bedding. Any stuffed animals they have put in garbage bags. You can either buy them new pillows or put the one they use in dryer. At any pharmacy or walmart, they have a lice spray from rid, get that and spray on their beds. Vacuum your entire house, furniture included. Doing all of this should help your kids from getting the lice back. Also make sure your stepdaughter is lice free before she comes over again. Hope this helps and best of luck:)
