Hi! Should I be worried if my 6 week old baby doesn't have a bowel movement in 2 days? If so, what can I give him?

Hi Katherine, on Monday I have him an ounce of similac isomil soy formula and yesterday I gabe him 3 ounces the rest has been breastfeeding. So I don't know if that makes a difference. But I just called his dr I'm waiting for his call back. Thank you for the advise :)

Hi , i agree with doris u must see childs doc . Is ur baby exclusively breastfed ? If yes then its ok not to have a bowel movement upto 3 days . Some doctors even say up to 6 days . However i would go to a doc to check. It is tough to wait n worry . Take care .

I would suggest calling his pediatrician or nurse on call. Normally if the baby is older you can offer juice, water, or karo syrup mixed with water. But with a newborn I'm not sure you should make a decision on your own. Plus you have to find out why he isn't having a bowel movement. If he is formula fed, the formula might not be agreeing with him and the pediatrician might suggest changing it.
