So after years of making excuses, we finally bought a "nice" camera for me to try and learn about photography. Nothing major, mostly just wanting to take quality pics of my kiddos and maybe my extended family and their kiddos:) but I have no clue what I'm doing. I have gone through the manual *some* but I don't have tons of time do try things out. Just wondering if anyone had any tips on some ways on how they learned, recommendations, classes?! Thanks!! Oh and do you know if there are any photog moms that get together?!

Play with it. That is the best way to learn. I get new things every now and again, the only way I learn to use it was to play with it because the manuals were so hard to understand except for the first few pages that listed the parts of the camera or item on the camera. Find a place that offers classes like the other poster suggested at the camera shop if one in your area offers them, go to community college or see if there are free classes offered as well. If you have a friend or family member that knows a bit on cameras, have them help you.

In my neighborhood there is a specialty camera shop that offers periodical classes. I would google your area for camera shops and then see if they offer classes. The next best thing to do is to just start taking pictures, download them to your computer and just look through them to see what you did wrong. Didn't focus...maybe I need to use manual focus more. Low light...did the flash go off etc...
