Hi, my daughter had a scan last monday & was told the baby heart beat couldnt be heard. It was her first pregnancy.. Is it best for her to wait for the bleeding to start naturally & then go & have a curette or does it not matter. She has been told that doing it naturally is bset. Others have said that she will still need to go & have a curette to make sure all is cleaned out so she won't get infection. Thanku, Jocelyn

it happened within the first 3 or4 days it was pretty soon after i had the scan to say the heart beat wasnt there, but everyone is different i dont know if there is a certain time frame for it all to happen as for the mid wife not being helpful maybe just even ring her own doctor and just ask them basic questions just to ease your worries.

Thanku Mary, for your time in replying, I will pass this onto her. It's hard to know what to do when you don't know when it's going to happen. How many weeks were you when it happened?

if i was her i would take a few days off because once that bleeding starts number one you go into such shock even though you know its coming and you bleed so heavily you become weak and drained i had to nearly carried up to my bed when it happened me i was at home thank god it will start quick and get really bad cramps if she is at school she could frighten the children yeah my body cleared it out completely i had a scan just to be sure a few days after the bleeding for me wasnt smelly but it happens so quick and she will not be able to do anything for the evening only rest so be sure to watch her i know i had work the next day but with shock i got ill nothing serious just weak and feeling horrible warn her that no matter what she has in her head its not going to happen the way she thinks the bleeding for me started first i was sitting on my white couch then i got really bad cramps i didnt know i was bleedibg until i stood up to calm the cramps and my couch was covered in blood then it ran all along my legs then into the bathroom to pass clots etc.. support her through this time however when my mum miscarried two or three times she was brought to hospital ...so i would stay off work if at all possible. sorry for her loss.

Thankyou Mary Ellen for your reply. Did your body completely clean itself without any help from medical. She's just started to take reaspberry leaf tea which is also said to help expel the fetus etc She's a school teacher & concerned about being at school almonst children & teachers if the bleeding etc is smelly. Her midwife hasnt been that helpful.

when i had my miscarraige at about 11 weeks the same thing happened there was no heart beat i was told to go home the bleeding will occur naturally as the body will clean itself out so after a few days i had my micarriage heavy bleeding clots etc.. i rang the hospital the next day and they said that was that but everyone is different that was just me. maybe get in touch with the hospital and ask them straight out whats the best way to handle this.
