Would they consider doing another ultrasound to be sure, and other tests to make sure as well? because I'm sure this happens sometimes.
I know its a different situation and I was further along in the pregnancy but I remember when my little guy was squirming around so much in my tummy the doctor had a super hard time trying to find his heartbeat lol.
I just hope they'll do everything that they can to find out before doing anything else. Good luck and hugs.

So you've had two ultrasounds? One was on Tuesday (the 4th). When was the one at the ER?

When they measured the fetus what size was it? Was it smaller than they would expect based on when you probably conceived?

7 weeks is right on the line for when the heartbeat can be detected. Usually they would do two ultrasounds to confirm that the baby isn't growing, or they might do two blood tests to see if the pregnancy hormone in your blood is dropping.

Even if they confirm that the pregnancy isn't viable (the baby isn't growing and developing) many moms will choose to miscarry naturally rather than have a D&C. If you don't miscarry on your own after two or three weeks though, doctors will often insist that you have a D&C.

I had one natural miscarriage and one D&C. A D&C isn't terrible, but it's an operation and there are some risks. Miscarrying on your own this early would be like a heavy period, but it can be very difficult emotionally to have no idea when it's going to happen.

Anyway, since you're only 7 weeks make sure you understand how they determined that the pregnancy wasn't viable before they do anything.
