I am a fully disabled vet. My now ex husband decided to take a contract job out of country. I had my two girls, 9 & 10 solely for 1.5 years. When he left the country, I moved from St Louis area to Hawaii for the mild weather hoping it would help with my medical condition. While he was out of country, he filed for divorce (more to the story). The judge put the case on hold until he returned in Jan of this year. Even though the girls were well adjusted, getting good grades and settled in our new community, the Judge gave him temp custody in IL because I didn't prove my burden to be in Hawaii. During this time, he actively tried to keep me out of my girls lives, not answering the phone and planning fun things when I did get to speak with them. After the hearing, the judge (a new judge) gave sole custody to father with no set visitation schedule.(much more to the story) Ex is trying to get my disability. pay and social security. I would be happy to show the judges order and get some feedback. I am so lost and afraid. My girls grades are slipping, they don't get to talk with me regularly at all. He will not notify me of anything on them. I am going for appeal, but the Judge is still trying to take away my Veterans Disability and give it to him. There is so much more to the story, but I have no one to talk to that really understands. Lawyers....they tell you to wait and give you nothing to comfort you. I need a support system. Please help.
