Hello I am 32 and someone I know wants to sign over custody of her 3 month old child to another friend of mine. Do they need to go to family court or can they have something written up and then sign it infront of a notary? The father died when the mother was 2 weeks pregnant and she can't care for the child. She wants to get this done asap. The two friends live in different states. PLEASE GIVE ME WHAT EVER INFO YOU CAN THANK YOU.

Well, since I've answered in multiple posts, now...I'm going to reiterate, and then close this one, as the other is still open.

Your friends need to handle this themselves, by contacting attorneys in their jurisdictions to determine the best legal course.

They will need to contact family attorneys in their area
