not being allowed to see grandkids

Son and DIL are visiting MI from NC with 4yr, 3yr, and 2yr. grandchildren. Have only seen them a few times--the youngest only once when she was 6 mos. The was almost two years ago. DIL's family is onthe West side of MI,
we are near Detroit. The aren't coming to the Detroit area but when I suggested we come over and stay somewhere near them to visit for a few days, I was told "No. This if family vacation time." They have had 4 family vacations this year already since Feb. I am guessing DIL doesn't like us. Can we do anything to see our grandkids without causing a major rift in our already rocky relationship?

If she already doesn't like you, any power play to force her into letting you visit your grandkids will definitely cause a problem.

I would most certainly be talking to your son.
