Not eating solids

My son will be 11 months soon and while he has a great appetite when it comes to baby food (all the pureed stuff & yogurt), he refuses to eat anything else. I've tried cheerios, melt aways, little pieces of bread & fruit, and put stuff on his plate but he only plays with it and never puts it in his mouth. Anytime I put something in his mouth he spits it out or throws up. I know one day he will eat regular food but at this point I'm afraid to push things if he's just not ready. Anyone else ever have this issue and any advice? Thanks!

My daughter was the same and she did not really eat solid food until she was about 13 months. Partly because her teeth did not come through until then. Even now at 3.5 years old she is really fussy about the texture of food in her mouth and will not eat, pasta, rice or cake.

Just keep giving your son different things to try, breadsticks seemed to work for my little one and cheese cubes. When it is lunch time give him a few bits to eat on his plate and you sit and eat too. My daughter would eat more off of my plate than her own. When you have tried with the food for about 20 minutes if he still refuses some food feed him with food he will eat. Always offer the solid food first.
