For about five months or so my daughter has been exhibiting VERY ritualistic behavior before going to bed. Its always right before bed, and is beginning to worry me. when we put her to bed, it always has to go EXACTLY like this:
1) i kiss her, hug her, and then hold her hands.
2) my bf kisses, hugs, then holds her hands.
3) we have to tell her three phrases EVERY night, or she prompts them herself. "stay in bed. stay out of that drawer. in the morning when you wake up you can come downstairs with mommy" like i said, if i dont say them, she will ask.
However lately, shes been SO obsessive over the bedtime ritual, that she will SCREAM and cry if even a doll is out of place or, like tonight, a lotion bottle is in the wrong place. sending me crashing up the stairs to find that the reason she is screaming bloody murder is that mommy left the lotion on the nightstand. Or the tiger doll fell over. Or she ran out of water. i guess what im wanting to know is, is this behavior something to be worried over? is there any way to discourage this behavior without a crisis every night? id hate for this to become the norm and be checking for lotion bottles out of place when shes 18...
