Off the chart, what does it really mean.

My daughter is 149cm and just turned 9 this week. She has always been very tall for her age and is way above the curve on the height chart. I was wondering if other mums with similarly tall children have noticed whether their childrens growth rate slows down as they get older. Or if their children are just destined to be tall.

Absolutely best thing you can do and I hope that the appointment goes well. :)

Thanks Liz. We haven't really addressed this issue with a doctor as l haven't been overly concerned myself. But lately l have noticed that her growth isnt showing any signs of slowing down. Doctors appointment coming up tomorrow for some peace of mind.

I was 175cm at the age of 11 but then didn't grow any taller. It can happen, though it often predisposes the child to painful joints (I had painful knees as an adolescent). If her pediatrician isn't worried at her regular visits, I wouldn't worry either. She's just destined to be tall.
