ok so i have a 8,5,3,and 6 month old my husbands name is colby steele and im 35 thats me i am wondering if i shoulf change my kids bedtimes so what time do you think they should go to bed.

Well, my husband believes that all of our childen bedtimes should be the same. We have a 13, 10, 7, 2 and1 month old. Our 2yr old seems to be the night owl and we can't get her to sleep until 11 or 12 midnight!! I know that this sounds crazy because IT IS!! I wish he understood the differences in ages and agreed to a more consistant plan with rules for the children. I need to figure out a way in which he would undersand that T.V goes off at bedtime.

I start the night time routine for my 19 month old at 8 usually in the crib by 8:45. She usually wakes to eat at about 7 am and goes back to sleep at 10 am. Somedays she naps some days it's a battle we lose.
I start the routine with my 5 year old after I get my daughter in bed. He's usually asleep by 9:30 but he doesn't have to be up for kindergarten till later. Our kids don't get dropped off anywhere so they can sleep till they're ready to get up it works for our family. If my son had to be up for school earlier he would have an earlier bedtime. I wouldn't get to wrapped up in a bedtime if it works for everybody but if it's not then by all means change it.

Every child has different sleep needs, so it really does depend on your children, and also on your household schedule (such as what time they need to wake in the morning).
The general guidelines for a child under one is approximately 14-15 hours sleep a day, a 3 year old around 12-13 hours a day (including naps), a 5 year old 10-12 hours and an 8 year old 10-11 hours. These are really only guides, but probably fairly accurate for most kids.
To be honest, I have kids who are at opposite ends of the sleep needs spectrum. It's in their individual personalities. The important thing is that I have learned to recognise the signs that they are too tired and have always been able to adjust their bedtimes accordingly to make sure THEIR bedtimes suit THEM personally.
