I don't know how old your children are, but I was 36 when I had my youngest, and I'll be totally honest, I wouldn't go through another pregnancy much older than that. There is such a big difference between a pregnancy in your twenties and one in your late thirties, that I could only imagine the issues in my 40s. If my husband an I now decided to have more children (we are 47 and 43), we would probably look at fostering children who need a loving home (adoption is very difficult where we live).

I got pregnant at 38 and, despite the fact that I'd like another baby, there's no way that I could deal with it physically again. I would adopt a sibling for my daughter, but my husband would rather go with one child than adopt, so there we are!

Getting pregnant when I did was a miracle and a blessing which led to an amazing child; I will never regret any part of that process. However, it DID leave me permanently physically messed up.

Personally? I wouldn't put my body thru the major stress of being pregnant at my age (43). But, were I in your shoes, I would consider adoption.
