My daughter was so constipated from the formula she was on. I ended up giving her a low iron type. There is a lot of things you can to about constipation. If your baby is eating solids you need to be careful that baby is getting enough fibre. There are also a lot of foods that constipate us. Google it :):) I find that prune juice or cut up dried prunes work well. Also LOTS of water. suppositories.. Good luck. I know how much it sucks to have a constipated baby.

If it is just constipation, a spoonful of pure orange (no water) was recommended to me by a midwife in the uk. As I said, it always worked for my little one. When he got a bit older and was weaned, I started giving him raisins when he couldn't go.

It seems strange to me that your baby's doctor won't give you any advice on how to alleviate the situation. My advice is to continue calling the pediatric nurse in your pediatrician's office and tell her that you need to know what to do about this because your baby is in pain. If they do not give you an answer then I would find a new doctor. I am not a doctor or a nurse and so I can not give you professioal advise and would hesitate to do so because there may be a physical problem with your baby that needs medical attention. You should be able to have your questions answered by a caring professional. Do you have friends who have a pediatrician who they are happy with? Maybe they could recommend one to you.

How old? Echoing Karissa, low-iron formula (or more breastmilk if you're doing both) and if you're doing solids already, avoid banana, apple, and rice and give lots of raisins, prunes, and pears. Maybe some juice, too, but I was always able to solve it with raisins, prunes and pears.
