One year old tantrums!!

My daughter is such a loving child. Here recently she has started throwing major one year old tantrums. Laying on the floor kicking her feet, screaming at the top of her lungs. She just turned one and I don't know what to do??? She throws these tantrums if I put her down, to do a simple task as to place something in the oven, take something out of the dryer. If attention is not on her, she loses it. My husband says it's my fault bc I give in to her. Since she started doing it in public it's really getting to me. If I don't give her what she wants she loses it. Please I need suggestions.

Well giving in is only going to make it worse and the older she gets the worse it will get. When she throws the fit walk away. The more you ignore the behavior the sooner she realizes that that kind of behavior does not get what she wants. Right now it is working for her so why should she change. When it stops working she will change the behavior.

She's fairly normal. The less attention you give to the fit and the more consistent you are about not giving in... the sooner this phase will end (typically, at least). You shouldn't ignore your child, but you absolutely can and should ignore the fit (unless a distracting hug or silly song will get her out of it). If you have to put her down to do something and she freaks out... just carry on about your business. Talk to her about what you are doing... maybe ask her if she wants to help you (when it's something safe).

Hang in there. Most of us go through this phase. Only a lucky few have toddlers that never throw fits... and I kind of think those that claim that have simply blocked it out. lol
