Yes, it's normal to show earlier on your second, and any following, pregnancies. I have had 7 babies and have another on the way. I would say I'm smaller this time, but I tend to be smaller when carrying my girls--and we're having another girl, #3. Many blessings to you!!

My first child, I was already having to wear bigger clothes at 6 weeks. My second was twins, but the same thing. My third, I was getting bigger within three weeks. It is not un-normal. Another thing - I'm a larger woman, and usually chunkier chicks don't show as early - but I sure did! If this is your second and you are thin or average or only a little pudgy, you will pop right out there - your body remembers your last pregnancy and figures "well, if this is where things are going, might as well start the race!" You should go ahead and see your doctor if you haven't already, just to be on the safe side. He or she can do an ultrasound to check if necessary.

the only reason for worry/excitment for twins is on my side I have four sets of twin cousins three sets that are my aunts and uncles and my great grand parents had a set of twins there is a very large amout of twins in my family, but who knows my frist app is in three weeks it seems to be forever away and in the last few days morning sickness has taken over lol it just figures a few weeks before it goes away for most women I get it! Lots of twins lots of worry lots of vomit and the urge to pee every 20 min

After you have had a child, you will show much earlier. Also depends on how long since your previous child. Nothing to worry about... by my third, I looked pregnant as soon as I said I was out loud! :-)

I had that. Today is my due date for our second baby. Since I was only 10 weeks pregnant, I cannot wear the normal jeans anymore. I used to wear them until I was 25 weeks pregnant with my first. People started to presum I am going to have the baby soon or having twins when I was only half way. All I can say, it is mother nature's doing. nothing we can do about that.

Hi! I have 3 children, all grown!:( When I was pregnant with my second I was showing about the same time. Do twins run in your family, that's what they thought with me, not mine. Good luck and don't worry everything is fine!!!!

oh one more thing! It is possible to measure big, and have it level out in the end. It all depends on how the baby lays. I measured 6-8 cm overs very often until I was around 37 wks, where it started to even out, and I ended up having only a 7lb 1 oz baby!

Joanna, it is possible to be just a touch farther along then you think, however. After your first baby, you do show sooner with the next.Especially if they care close together.

oops, I didn't read the other comments, so maybe someone already said this. :)

I am totally with you on this one with my son I was wearing the scrubs at 10 weeks that I wore with 7 months with my daughter. I measured right on but the uterus loses elasticity with each pregnancy and this causes the pop sooner. Wishing you all the best!

I was showing by the time I was about 10 weeks (less if I looked at myself naked) with my 2nd, and she was a tiny baby (born 5lb 2 oz). It is just that your muscles aren't as tight as the first time around, LOL. Muscle memory!! It does not mean your baby is going to be bigger, or you are having a multiple birth! And it also does not mean you will be bigger right through your pregnancy. Even though I was much bigger at 6 months than I was at 6 months with my first, I was smaller by the time I was full term.

I remember when I was pregnant with my second child and I started to show at 7 weeks! I was shocked. I am not a big person and couldn't believe you could tell at that early stage. I spoke with other people and apparantly this is very common. Don't worry about it and enjoy your pregnancy. PS It wasn't twins.

I weighed 120 pounds when I first got pregnant and gained 16 pounds in my first two weeks of pregnancy!!! So by 8 weeks I was pretty pregnant looking - already in my first round of maternity clothes. And I gained more and more weight as we went. I went from wearing small to medium, to large maternity clothes and gained 45 pounds in my pregnancy and I really wasn't eating that much ! So who knows.... My baby was (is) healthy and he weighed 8 pounds, just one! I think that just like every child is different every pregnancy is a little different.

I had this situation with my second pregnancy as well. I felt quite large, but actually measured pretty close to normal, and decided it was due to the stomach already being stretched etc. At my ultrasound at 23 weeks, I found out it was twins. I don't tell you this to freak you out or anything, just to say that if you don't feel quite right, trust your gut and if you want extra tests, go for them.

Even with my first child I started showing at about 8 weeks ish. She was a bigger then average baby tho, i got big early on but didnt grow that much throughout. Apparntly it was because I had alot of water!

Quoting Jackie:

Have you seen your doctor? Could be twins or you could be farther along then you think.

I had twins, they were big for twins, and i didn't start showing until I was 4 1/2 months pregnant...so never go by that...my second pregnancy i was about 8-9 weeks and started showing..which is normal when its a second or third pregnancy...also you are already gaining a little weight, so you may appear to be showing,  keep in mind also that when you start to gain weight, your stomach fat increases sometimes before it shows anywhere else...it is also possible that you are further along than you are being told and may need an u.s. to check measurements

I don't think it is anything to worry about. You could be further along like Jackie said, you could be having twins, or you could just be showing early!

showing early could mean multiple babies, being further along, big baby (that was mine... At 6 months I looked like I was ready to pop!), or maybe it is just because of the first baby. It is very common for second pregnancies to show early. If you are concerned just go see a doctor.

Well being one of those women who didn't miss their periods don't rule out being farther along. I felt my son move before I missed my period.
