I am a widow with 4 children. I work full time and have no family. My mother in law is the only place that I can take kids when they are out of school for holidays ect. despite efforts to keep things from being brought home, travelers have managed to find their way to the house. She has a major infestation of roaches. I do not know what to do. I have looked for alternatives such as having my teen watch 2 and find a sitter for my son who is very ADHD. She cannot handle all the kids together without me there. I have looked for some type of drop off day care for those days and nothing. Next problem, Christmas is coming.... How do I tell my decesed husbands mother that whatever she buys for chistmas cannot come to my house??? I refuse to live with cock roaches and anyone that has had to deal with them knows how costly and hard it is to get rid of them. just one can infest within weeks. His mother is already greiving bad over her son, how do I take her grandchildren from her because of bugs? any advice?

dove you'd be surprised... when i lived in these apartments, my apartment was infested SERIOUSLY infested by roaches... nothing i did got rid of them, people who lived around us were FILTHY!!!! I called the office so many times and all they did was put sticky paper down... i called once a week for months and NOTHING helped.... i gave up... luckily i live in a house now... and no more roaches... can she move? is she in apartments or a house? i have a bug man who comes out and every three months on a shedule and it is about $60 every three months.

But why would they bother to get into sealed packages unless there is food in the packaging? Roaches are out for food.... not just to get into packages.

if she buys them and keeps them at her house for some time they can get into the packaging

thank you but extermination is out of the question. I have tried, had them under control at one time but she lets family members stay with her and they just trash the kitchen and she is not able or willing to clean like she should to keep them under control or get rid of them. idk I have tried asking her to come over but she always has some excuse. I think I am going to have to bit the bullet and tell her not to send things home and any christmas she buys will have to be for there. thank you for your reply

Oh man that is terrible. Can't she come to your house and watch the kids? Or could you help her pay for exterminating them?
