Lately my home daycare has been putting cartoons on for the kids that she cares for. We have always expressed that we do not agree with this and have always sent alternative activities for our daughter to do. I recently went back to work (summers off bc I'm a teacher) and the cartoon viewing seems to have increased and is on daily for various periods of the day. My daughter (3.5 yrs) is interested in watching and we don't want to necessarily imply that tv watching is bad...but that watching too much isn't good and want to emphasize that other things are just as fun to do (reading, playing games, etc). I'm running out of ideas of things to send for her that keep her interest when in competition with a cartoon show. She has brought easy-clean up type things like magic paint (uses just water to paint on special paper then colour appears), dry erase boards, abc/phonics computer, kids mp3 music player, puzzles. Anyone have any ideas of other things that I can send with her? I've considered switching daycares, but this one is reasonably priced and it's very obvious that she truly cares about our kids....I just hate how some people just turn on shows for kids as though they can't entertain themselves simply playing amongst other kids...drives me nuts!
Thanks for your suggestions :)
