other kids bad habits

I find it very hard when my son picks up another bad habit from kids he is around. For example Im a single mother my son is 1 1/2 he has just started having his father in his life this past month he visits for two days a week. While visiting his cousins are over and show him hitting pinching, pushing, pointing fake guns in people's faces, and my favorite high pitched screaming to get your way..what can I do to break him quickly?? He is starting to keep the habits as back up reinforcement when he doesn't get his way.
Please help with any advice I have no family anywhere around me and my mother is no longer her so the internet and other mothers are my only hope.
Sincerely, Samantha

This will be the first of many. Not necessarily with his dad, but as they grow they will make friends with some kids whose habits aren't so great. You can't choose who they are friends with, just as you can no longer have a choice over who their father is (that choice was made when you conceived them). If you can't get dad on the same page, then this is just one of those situations that you are going to have to manage. There will be many more in the next 18 or so years. You make it clear what YOUR expectations are in YOUR home and you stick to it.

You need to talk to the father and tell him that the behavior is not what you want your son to have. You two need to sit down and come up with a parenting plan for behavior and keep it the same at both homes so that he will know when you mean something. He is at the age where he is going to copy what he sees the other kids do and this would be no different than if he were in a day care setting. You need to start telling him to stop and no now and keep consistent with it. YOu can not control what goes on in dad's home or time frame. All you can do is try to get dad to be on the same behavior routines.
