Tonight my 5 month old son has been a little grumpy as he some times is I was holding him upright in the way he likes no different than I usually do and all of a suden he burst out crying and it sounded like a pianful cry I can't find any explanation for this and it got me and my partner quite worried he settled after a few minutes and then got tiered and fell asleep. Please if any one has had a similar experience or may know what could have caused this I would be grateful of any input?

Maybe an ear infection? My daughter would have outbursts of crying ( which was so not like her) . She had no other symptoms such as fever or loss of appetite either. I did notice if she got water in her ear it caused her pain and she would cry pretty inconsolably, but I didn't realize it was the water being in her ear that was causing the crying until the diagnosis . If it sounds like a " hurt cry" and not just normal fussiness then have the pedi take a look it can't hurt

If you're starting to see a tooth popping in, that very well could have been what was going on. Do you have teething soothers? They'll come in very handy in the next few months!

If not, and he's having a tough time, get a washcloth wet, and freeze it in a plastic bag. When it's cold, baby has something soft and cold to gnaw on, which really helps their poor achy gums! Good luck

He may have had some gas caught, or (as hubby used to say) a burp caught sideways...

Thanks for your input. I thaught this also but he had not eaten for a very long time, no wind came up and iv kind of got to know all his crys and it was very differnt to anything iv ever hurd. This moringn iv had an inspection on his mouth and he has got a tooth coming through do you think I may have been that? I was very out of caricter for him to cry like that.
