Ovaltine (malt shake~ "a good source of vitamins & minerals") I know this was popular when I was a child, but does anyone use this today with your children?

Ummm, no. It's not a 'good source of vitamins and minerals.'

Real food is.

i honestly don't believe there is anything good about ovaltine.

My kids love it and ask for it all the time. I like it because it's got lots of good stuff and it's easy to make many different ways (our favorite is milk, bananas, Ovaltine and vanilla ice cream - blend it all together and it's a delicious shake).

I grew up on Ovaltine in the 70's and 80's when the only flavour was chocolate. Mum used to warm up the milk and we'd drink it before going to bed. Such a nice comforting memory from my childhood. Now we drink Milo which my husband likes the taste of better. But all those kinds of drink are fine in moderation. Children need to drink a certain amount of fluids especially water each day, so they can rehydrate themselves and they don't end up constipated.

I have a question I know Ovaltine is suppose to be good for you but it's still chocolate now my cousin has a 4 year old and when ever he asks for it she gives it to him with no hesitation so he has it all day the moment he finishes a cup she'll hand him another one if he asks and he's also trained his brain to wake up at 3 in the morning to have a cup (I'm thinking what's the point of even brushing your teeth) now the only reason she does this is because she thinks its giving him all his vitamins maybe a cup during lunch is fine but she's giving it to him 24/7 isn't that also rotting his baby teeth or giving him cavities?

Well, I introduced it on Monday and she liked it pretty well, but then I tried to give it to her again this morning and she turned it down. So I will try again, next week. I just wondered if it's still a good source of Vitamins... as it claims. Please a healthy alternative to Chips and other stuff.

I have it at home because I like it myself. My kids haven't really been keen on it yet, but it's like any other new food I try with them - if they don't like it the first time, I just try again until they either have shown they definitely hate it or that they like it.
