Over reacting or reason for concern?

My daughter is 19 months old and tonight I noticed her hand was swollen and all of her knuckles were purple. I called the peds office and he said that if her hand still looks the same tomorrow to bring her in. She is my only child so I do tend to worry about everything and while noone else seems to think it's not a big deal I can't help but worry. Am I over thinking this? She doesn't complain about it unless it's messed with but she also won't use that hand to self-feed or anything else. I haven't heard her cry or complain yesterday or today about any pains other than her teething I can't imagine what she could of done everything is baby proofed and I never leave her alone unattended.

Depending on how swollen she needs to be seen immediately. If her entire hand is swollen, take her to an urgent care clinic, if one isn't open take her to the ER. She needs a compress to help with the swelling and some ice.

If it is mild swelling than chances are a bit of ice and elevation, then taking her to the doctor in the morning would be fine.

My son got his poor foot caught in the van's sliding door a few months back. His poor foot swelled up and was purple. He had to have a tiny ace bandage around his foot (nothing was broken, thank God) for about 5 days until the swelling dissipated enough.

No there was no string or hair. I noticed it first when I cleaned her up after she was finished with her dinner. I had read that too that it could be a string or hair wrapped around her finger if her fingers were swollen and purple but just her knuckles on top of her hand are purple and the top of her hand is swollen, past the wrist is normal and her fingers are fine too. Everyone seems to think she either got her hand stuck in her crib (she can't get more than past the middle of hand through the slots anyways) or something fell on it which I can't see how which maybe because I didn't see it. My husband says she's a toddler she's going to get bumps and bruises and that I'm overthinking this because I just lost my step-father last week. Thought I'd bring it here to other moms because dads just don't react the same way. Thank you though for the response

Her hand is swollen and her knuckles are purple? I'd be concerned. There isn't anything (like a string or hair) wound around her wrist is there? I'm assuming you'd be able to tell that fairly easily, but figured I'd check just in case.

It may very well be nothing to be 'worried' about, but a swollen hand is not 'normal' and I definitely don't think you are overreacting to get it checked out.
