Ok, so here is the problem. I have this pain, in where seems like just below oir under my left bottom rib. It hurts when I take deep breaths, lay on my left side or move in a fashion that is semi-akward for the left side. I have had no bleeding and no cramping/pain in my lower abdomen where the baby is (I am 12 and a half weeks pregnant). I called the doctor and they said to take Tylenol and rest...if it gets worse, I start to bleed, or doesn't go away tomorrow, go to the ER so that they can evaluate me. The pain feels less than yesterday, but I am worried!! I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem!? I read about the round ligament pains or whatever, but those sound like they only happen in the lower tummy and groin. I was so happy to get the the "12 week" marker because the risk of miscarrage drops lower, but I am scared again!!

I am not a doctor, but am an OB nurse, and I have to say in my opinion, you are not at risk for a miscarriage from the symptoms you are describing. It could just be from things allready staring to get crowded inside from your baby! I do not know your health history or if there have been any physical trauma, but I would have to say that I believe everything is okay. Keep your OB informed they are always available and if symptoms get worse, get seen!! Good Luck!!

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I'm 13 weeks now and I'm tinny. The pain under my left rib left me on the floor one night. It went away like an hour later but it was the most painfull thing I ever experienced.

sounds like me, i had alot of pain like that too, no miscarriage, just the blessing of twins, so have fun and good luck. dont think cause they may have ruled out twins already, they said we had one baby too, four times until they found our twins at 19 1/2 weeks.

Thank you everyone for all the great advise!! The pain is lessened today, I just rested like I was told and it got significantly less!! Still don't know what the pain was caused from, but I am glad it is gone!!! Thanks everyone again, so much!!

Oh my! I can't believe your rib broke! So, is she a soccer player now? lol That's true too - ive got a short torso, the crowding was not fun! Especially towards the later months when the breathing got harder!! But wow, ive never heard of anyone having their rib broken! Neat story ...

I have bad bottom ribs from a under developed diaphragm which gave me hiccups when I was younger.
Something about when I got towards the 2nd trimester, I kept having pains from around my ribs. My Dr said to just watch and wait.

If you are shortwaisted (like me) you could have crowding. My daughter broke my rib with her foot towards the end of my pregnancy with her. It was still sore 3 years later when I was pregnant with my son, but it is fine now 20 years after she was first a pain in my side.

Keep your doctor in the loop, but remember the pregnancy hormones can loosen up all your ligaments.

I dont want to be so blunt, but have you had good bowel movements lately?? You might just have some indegestion or constipation (which doesnt necessarily mean you cant go - just be blocked up a bit) I would drink lots of fluids and eat fiberous stuff to get stuff moving along, in case -- but like these women here said, keep posted with your doc. Take care!

I had some pain. it would come and go but try not to worry, relax. I know every woman and every pregnancy is different. keep in touch with your doc even if nothing changes, go to doc just to put your mind at ease. have a tlc weekend.
