I don't have a child with PANDAs, but I do have the disorder myself. For me, it caused frequent and severe seizures starting at four years old, and I believe it left me with a lot of residual mood disturbances. I have had a history of eating disorders, OCD, and bipolar disorder, all of which trace back to the onset of my PANDAs disorder. I was born in 1995, so when I was in the thick of things, it wasn't even an official diagnosis, and none of my doctors had even heard of it. I ended up being diagnosed at the behest of my mother; she did relentless research trying to find something that could explain ALL of my symptoms, and she was the one who educated my doctors on the disorder. After that, it was smooth sailing. I was finally diagnosed with PANDAs when I was 9 because I started having seizures again after two years of no seizure activity, and they started about ten days after I had a strep infection (just like the first time when I was four). They treated me for the strep infection, medicated me for the seizures while my body healed from the damage caused by PANDAs, and I have not had a seizure in over 11 years.
