My son who just turned 5 had an EEG followed by an EMU and we know he has partial subclinical seizures in the left centro-temporal lobe. Basically what they found is frequent high volt sharp waves lasting between 5-10 seconds. Today at his neuro appointment he was prescribed Trileptal. He has a diagnosis of autism. He functions pretty well everywhere else but in language. He speaks a little bit but his speech is not spontaneous and is not getting better with therapy. Dr. thinks the medication could help reduce the sharp waves and therefore improve speech. However I have read (google) not so good things about this drug. Does anyone here has experience with this drug?
