PCS Move Question. Is it to late for the military to move the rest of the family?

In January of 2012 my husband received PCS orders to Chicago for recruiting. Due to both of our sons having special needs (one being autistic and the other with a learning disability) my husband and I made the difficult decision to keep myself and our sons in California so that they could finish the rest of the school year while he moved alone to Chicago. My husband and I agreed that once the school year was complete we would make the family move to Chicago. My question is...when my husband moved to Chicago TMO handled everything. He only took his clothes, his bicycles, tools and a recliner chair nothing more. I'm worried because I'm not sure now if the military will cover the costs of the family moving 6 months later? Any help is appreciated.

Amanda, thank you so much for your insight. I will contact TMO tomorrow and will hopefully find something out. My fingers are crossed that we will receive some type of assistance considering that they really did nothing for my husband. Literally they moved maybe 400 lbs and nothing more since my husband drove his car and handled everything else. Thank you once again.

I just got out and moved to Carson to be with my husband who is also military. I have moved previously through the military and I am unfortunate to say that when dealing with JPPSO/Transportation in the military there are a lot of loop holes and they love to charge you wherever they can. They most certainly will help with the moving process but I can almost gaurentee that they will charge you out of pocket for they move. Esspecially if they already made a move on those orders. But I wish you the best of luck. I'd call and make an appt with them and make sure to bring those orders and an estimate of how much weight you are moving. They usually base the weight off the size of the property about 1000lbs/room
