I understood the CP diagnosis. I just wondered if he can maintain his own airway or if he has a tracheostomy. How is he fed now?

Jordan has been diagnose as Cerebral Palsy. He can not see or hear or eat or drink. He is 19 months old and his lungs are filled with milk and water. He can not drink without choking and he aspirates.

I am sorry that I did not respond earlier, sterile saline and sodium chloride are not interchangeable but have the same ingredients. When you use saline for the nebulizer you are using .9% normal saline, it may be called sterile saline or .9NS. I expect if what you have is a bottle of fluid from a medical supple store, it is probably fine to use. If you are putting something into a machine for his breathing, you want to be sure it is sterile. Does your child have a tracheostomy?

Hi. Is Sodium Chloride, Saline water? I need to out his nebuliser in and need to add some saline water, but only have sodium chloride and I'm not sure if it is the same thing?

Yes, and work as a school nurse and have students in my district with all sorts of feeding tubes.

It is scary, but your child will be so much safer with the PEG. I presume you have gotten this advice from the results of a swallow study? If your child is unable to safely eat or drink without it "going the wrong way" this is the best option. While it seems daunting, the procedure is very simple and you will receive lots of help and education on how to care for the device. Did the kidney failure resolve or does your baby get dialysis?

Not personally but I have cared for many. Do you have a question or just looking for support?
