I had an emergancy D & C 3 months ago and with our doc's go ahead, have been trying. My periods are all over the place. 1st one came 28 days after D & C. 2nd one came 33 days (counting from the first day of my last period) and the 3rd one came 15 days(again counting the first day of my last period). So my question is. . . have any other woman know of or themselves experianced this with a D & C? I'm just wondering if it take a while for your system to get back to normal. With my son who is now 17 months old, it was a normal could pregnancy and took us only 4 months to get pregnant. I know these things take time, I'm just wondering if anyone has some insight on thier situation. I want too thank all you ladies in advance for sharing your stories with me.

Also I didn't bleed that much after the D and C. However I bled a lot early in both my complete pregnancies to the point I went to the ER both times since I thought I was having a M/C. Come to find out I have what is called a bicornuate (SP) uterus. That's where there are 2 separate side to the uterus, split almost completely down the center with a wall of tissue. I was pregnant in one side and as the other side "prepared" for the pregnancy, my body got rid of the excess blood, tissue, etc. That's what always caused my severe cramping during periods. This may not help you much but ask a lot of questions when you go in as to why you are bleeding so much. Write them all down as you think of them and go in prepared.

I had a d & c after a miscarriage and was pregnant 2 months later, and gave birth to a baby boy. I was only 8 weeks along when I had my m/c so maybe that's why. If you were further along in the pregnancy, it might take a little time for your hormones to get back to normal. I would say go see your DR if the irregular periods go on for a total of 6 months.

Yes hormones can be all over the place after a D&C this is normal. You can however still get pregnant at odd times of the month as you do not know when you are ovulating. If you are trying to have a baby then keep taking the folic acid. My gyne said that you do not have to have a period at all to conceive and he was right as I did not have a period for well over a year when I came off the pill and I still managed to conceive twice!

Thank you ladies, I went in for dating and was 6wks 4days, heartrate very low. Doc said 50/50. He also checked my hormone levels, 2 weeks or so later, I went in becuz my hormone levels were gettting lower, Had another ultrasound and there was no longer a heartbeat. Was told that I would more then likely miscarry on my own and after about 2wks of spotting, I thought I could return to work. The day before I was suppose to turn too work. I was in alot of pain and changing a nite time pad every 3 mins. This is way I ended up with an emergancy D and C. I was having contractions and bleeding too heavy. I wasn't that far along. My husband and I have moved on as best as we can. I was going too wait for 4 - 6 periods before talking to the doc, but I take my son there next week so I'll mention it then. I was just wondering what others experianced after a D and C. Thank you again.

I would talk to your OB/GYN. It can take several months for your hormones to balance themselves out. Or, you could have a hormone imbalance.

Why did you have the D&C? The reason for it may make a difference to responses......
