Heba - posted on 08/29/2015 ( no moms have responded yet )

Hi moms. My name is Heba and I am from Egypt. My son is 9. 4 months ago he was diagnosed with Perthes in his right hip. He started to limp and had pain so I had X-rays and found out the sad news. My problem is that I consulted 6 paedtiatric orthopedics and they have different opinions. Some suggest surgery as soon as possible, others adopt a wait and see approach for 3 months then decide afterwards. Even those who suggested surgery have different methods as to pelvic or femoral osteotomy! 2 doctors even say they are against surgery and let nature take its course! I am confused and personally I prefer not to put my son under the knife as he is so weak(only 20 kilos). I searched the case a lot and I found out that even those who had surgery were not spared a hip replacement at the end! So why put him through all this agony as long as I have doctors with contradictory opinions. He is not having pain and he goes swimming everyday. Did anyone survive without surgery?? Thanks moms!
