It may just be a self soothing behavior, like hair twirling, thumb sucking or rocking. Of course, if she is making her gums bleed you need to help her to stop. I really can't think of any suggestions to get her to quit, but a dentist or dental hygienist might have some answers. As may her pediatrician. Good Luck

How old is she? Her teeth might be coming in and bothering her. Or they might be bothering her at some level...does she pick til they bleed? I would take her to dentist then primary care especially. If the dentist was at a loss it could be an anxiety issue....I have severe anxiety hope this helps...

Yes she floss and brush every night. I asked her and she shrugged her shoulders and says "I don't know". I must say after me & her father explained to her what could happen to her mouth, she has been doing much better. Thank you all for your support. I'm praying we have this under control.

Hi Beth, she is 4 yrs. old and yes sometimes they do bleed. I took her to the dentist and because it was healed he said she'll be ok. I'm going to take her to her primary Dr. to make sure it's not something else going on. Thank you!
